Congratulations iCAN Scholars on a successful Year!
"Be the change you want to see in the world". Mahatma Gandhi
Students were selected from East Clarendon, Manning High and Scotts Branch to participate in a rigorous 12 month mentorship program. The scholars were engaged with monthly motivational speakers, group coaching, sessions on college preparation, portfolio preparation, resume writing, and scholarship essays. The iCAN scholars were offered real world experiences to include volunteerism with the IRS Volunteer Program. Graduating seniors who complete the program successfully will be awarded the Levi Pearson Scholarship upon acceptance into the college of their choice. While participation in the iCAN mentorship program is not a requirement or a prerequisite for our scholarship applicants, it provides the applicant with an opportunity to begin cultivating and charting their future.
iCAN Scholars Weekly Sessions/Community Service
The iCAN scholars participated in community service activities such as serving as hostesses for the Briggs v Elliott Historical Park Unveiling with keynote speaker Congressman Jim Clyburn in September 2022, serving as hostesses for the Levi Pearson Scholarship Gala/Dinner in May 2023, as well as participating in several community parades.
College Tours
iCAN Scholars were provided opportunities to participate in college tours.
